Pink and Gold

Hello everyone. Today I am playing along with Curtain Call. I was so inspired by the photo and I had this gorgeous gold glitter paper that I was dying to use. Also, if you know me, you know that PINK is my all time favorite color. This call was right up my alley.

Here is the inspiration photo:

and here is my card:

I started with my card base, Gesso and a new stencil from Memory Box (LOVE these). I wasn't super careful about how the Gesso went on the stencil as I didn't want it even all the way around.  While the Gesso was still very wet I sprinkled some Gold Glitter onto it. It's the microfine glitter from Martha Stewart.  I let it dry overnight.

I die cut a Sizzix Butterfly ( I think they are Tim Holtz? I could be wrong...i bought them so long ago), the butterflies come with 4 embossing textures but I just wanted the plain butterfly.  I die cut it twice. Once out of DCWV gold glitter paper and a second time out of heavy weight vellum.

I also die cut some My Favorite Things rolled flowers out of regular, cheap, Michael's felt.  The leaves are Taylored Expressions die cuts. I layered it all together.

This picture just doesn't do that butterly justice....but isn't the background texture awesome?!

For inexpensive felt this stuff rolls beautifully. I used a Hero Arts Pearl in the center.
I realized as I was editing the photo that I never put a sentiment on the front....I think that's ok. I went to try and figure out where to put one when I realized I liked it much better the way it was. I get a lot of orders for no front sentiments so I think I will just toss this one into that pile. I don't think every card needs one. What are your thoughts?

I'll be back later with some watercolor cards. I am taking Watercolor for Card makers at Online Card Classes. I absolutely LOVE these classes. Even though I know a lot of the techniques they teach I never fail to learn something new in each and every class!!!! :) I love that.

Til then....

You are my happy SP&Co Trends Challenge

Hey everyone! Today kicks off a new Trends Challenge over at Scrapmaster's Paradise. This time it was my turn to be hostess and I chose to go with the theme of Negative Space. I love to play with negative space.  Here is my first card:

I started with a 4.25 x 5.50 sheet of cardstock and stamped the new Happy Moments Journaling Frame on the front of my card in the new Ocean Waves ink. I then masked it off and used the the Small Polka Dots Background Stamp in gray. I cut the center of it out using an exacto knife and then I lightly traced the inside of it onto my card front so that I new where to stamp.

I masked off everywhere around my rectangle on the front of my card and then stamped the Circletastic Background in Flamingo Pink. I didn't want the pink to be really bright so I first stamped it off on a piece of scrap paper and then stamped it onto my card front. Here is a close up of it. I love the softness that the SP&Co chalk inks give off when you use this stamping technique.  I stamped my title, that comes with the Happy Moments stamp set and stamped it directly onto the chalk ink background.
I added some gray twine used a Sizzix butterfly I had in my stash and attached it to the front of my first card piece. I then added pop dots to the 4.25 x5.50 stamped cardstock and attached it to the front of my card.
I hope you will choose to play along with us. I will be back tomorrow with another negative space card. Thanks so much for stopping by!

You Rock

Hey everyone it's time for a new challenge over at A Blog Named Hero. This week's challenge is all about the men in our lives....yes, MASCULINE!

I usually struggle with masculine cards but this one just kind of came out and I am really happy that I got a girly flourish to work so well on a man's...or in this case...boy's card. I think my son will love this for Graduation next week.
I cut the guitar out of my Silhouette and pieced it together. I used mustache washi tape to cover it for some added fun! I used a white gel pen to draw the strings and I used the Hero Arts Neon Inks to cover the die cut title and add stars.

Make sure to stop by A Blog Named Hero to see what the other girls did (they are FAB!!!) and don't forget to make a masculine card and link it up.  You could be the next winner of a
Now wouldn't you want to win that gift voucher from the INCREDIBLE SIMON SAYS STAMP?

See you soon.
