SALEM....Hero Arts and Silhouette

Hi everyone! I am back today to share one of my submissions to the City for the rent free store space. I made this specifically for the application but I also was inspired by this month's Hero Arts challenge of shaped cards. Shaped cards are my favorite and I will be back this week with more of them.. It took me a while but I have all the files saved and should be able to bang quite a few out between now and October if I get the space.

I used my Silhouette to design the letters. Everything was either stamped or cut from my Silhouette. It was labor intensive but I am absolutely thrilled with the end result. I hope you like it too! This is a photo heavy post!

I used the Leaf and Floral background from Hero Arts on all the letters. The white letters were embossed with Hero White embossing powder and the black and red were done in Hero's clear embossing powder. You may wonder why I did these colors....they are Salem's colors (they are my kitchen colors too in case you wanted to know;) )

The map paper is October Afternoon and I trimmed it down to North America and then used the end of a pen tube dipped in red ink to circle where Salem is on the map.

Salem Book Page A
This was one of my favorite pages to do. I used the Leaf and flower background again to jazz up the "S" as it was too hard to get lettering on it. I cut the sign post out in my Silhouette and used the fill feature and print and cut feature to get my wording on the sign. The opposite page "A" is my favorite. I love the row of houses stamp. I have been dying to ink it and I had this vision in my head and it came out just how I wanted it too. I used the new Hero Mid-tone ink Wet Cement. I stamped the row of houses once then restamped without inking to get the lighter image. I used the Cloud background stamped inked in Colorbox chalk ink for the clouds. Some distress ink on the library pocket and it was done.

These folders were cut out of my Silhouette. I then stamped them, inked them and added more die cuts to them. They can mount photos on top if they would like, add photos or memorabilia inside or write inside them. The book is full of places to write or store things.

This is "L":

the ticket strip can be used to write in too. :)

This page was done to add some of the biggest tourist attractions here in Salem. The "Friendship" is down on Derby Wharf. You can't miss it. It's spectacular in the summer on the glistening ocean. The small "porthole" is for a picture. You have to stand pretty far back to get all of her in the photo. I forgot to add the welded screws before I snapped the pictures. I used Glossy Accents to make the ship shine on the bottom.

Then the next page is the Trolley. The red Trolley is as well known here as the Witches are. They deserved their own place! :) It was all cut out of my Silhouette. I used the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain on the tree after I cut it out.

The last 2 pages are just library pockets to hold stuff, notes etc. They can mount photos on the top of them too. These first two are 2 of my newest favorites from Hero Arts! :)

That's it! If you have any questions I will gladly answer them. I have more stuff that I submitted that I will share later. I am exhausted tonight. I neglected my house for a week and made up for it today!! It's so clean now though....it was worth it!

Have a great night/day and thank you sooooooo much for stopping by!

HUGS!
