Inspiration circle with Lisa Caroll and Jennifer McGuire

Hi Everyone! Today I am sharing a card that Jennifer McGuire taught in a class that I took with her last Spring at my lss. You might recognize it. It was the card set in the video over at A Blog Named Hero that I did a couple of weeks ago.

Normally I would never post a project from a class that people paid for but I asked Jen if it was ok to post it, as I was a space shot, and used the cards in the video and others wanted to see them. Jen gave me permission but she wanted to make sure that I gave credit to Lisa Carroll. She got the idea for the card from Lisa and had asked her permission to use it in class. I found it interesting how one card could inspire so much. So I am going to show you how this lil' ole card evolved between 3 people.

Let's start with Lisa as she was the originator. HERE: is her card. I love how she used leaves for her background rather than the flower stamp. I also love the banner that she mounted her sentiment on. It's an absolutely GORGEOUS card. Lisa heat embossed her flowers, colored them in and misted them with Perfect Pearls.

Jennifer took the same approach with the colors and the technique on the flowers. (sorry it's blurry, it's a picture of a picture) They are stamped in Versamark, heat embossed in white & then colored in with Distress inks and then heavily sprayed with Perfect pearls. Instead of a banner Jen mounted her sentiment on a strip of paper that ran across the card. Both girls mounted their sentiments, both used green on their sentiments but Jen did friend in bright green and the rest in black. I think it really makes the word *friend* pop! :) I love how just a slight change can really make a big impact.

And my cards....I decided to take this project and run with it. I needed a card set for Mother's day. I did it in every color that I loved. Most are monochromatic. A few were different. I did all my sentiments in black except for the blue ones which I heat embossed in white so it would pop off the page.
I used a coordinating piece of patterned paper to mount sentiments on. It's mostly the new Bo-Bunny dots with some Stampin' Up! and Memory Box tossed in there. I love these Bo-Bunny papers. I will be buying a whole bunch more. I have linked them at the bottom for you.

I didn't make my colors as deep as Jennifer's. I wish I had though. Hers just pop off that card!

Here are the other colors...The perfect pearls is so gorgeous in person. The pictures don't do these cards justice at all.

I would like to thank Lisa for such an inspirational card, Jennifer for teaching the technique to me and both of them for letting me share with all of you!

Be back tomorrow. I have so much to share! :)

Your card set is just stunning, Michelle. What a treat to see the different versions in all the shades you've used. And to see how it evolved from Lisa & Jennifer's cards too. (I loved taking one of Jennifer's class last year as well. So much to learn) :0) Thanks for the inspiration!

What a small world....! I also took this same class with Jennifer, when she was here at AE!! When I read your post on my blog earlier, I had not been here yet, but now that I'm browsing all your wonderful projects, it's very clear that we both took the same classes!!

I also go to AE often for new 'goodies' and to take classes, from time to time!! It's the ONLY LSS that I know about, at least in our general area. If YOU know of others...please share!!

Your cards and projects blow me away and are ALL fantastic. It's clear you are a fabulous designer and it's great to have met you too!!

Happy Crafting,
Lisa
