Quilting Book

Hi Everyone,

I have been very busy as of late. I have been creating up a storm!! I am pretty excited to share this one. I made this for my mom for her birthday. I used 9 Hero Arts stamps to create this. The cover is a combination of stamping and patterned paper from October Afternoon.

My mom made my husband and I this gorgeous quilt:

I fell in love with it. This photo doesn't even do the quilt justice. I took it with my phone. It is just stunning in person.

I wanted to make her a book so that she could record the materials and stories behind her quilts. I know my daughter will love to go through it someday too. I will make her many of these I am sure. It was super simple to put together once I got the inside template done.

Here is the cover...It's inspired from the quilt she made me:

I had a bunch of Technique Tuesday diamonds and I started playing with them. I decided that they would be too bulky to add to the top so I took the exact dimensions of them, as they fit perfectly, and made a diamond template in my Silhouette Software. I did cut the smaller diamonds too but it looked too cramped on such a small area. I cut the diamonds out of cardstock and October Afternoon Paper. I stamped the cardstock with 8 different Hero Arts stamps...most of them flowers. The yellow and the red are hard to see in the photo as the inks were really close to the cardstock colors but IRL you can see it and it's so pretty. I lightly attached them to a 10x12 piece of cardstock and then used my sewing machine to stitch them on. I added the October Afternoon letter stickers and then I put Modge Podge over the entire thing.

Here is the template I made for the inside pages:

Opposite this page is a place for pictures too, each page was decorated similarly with a strip down the side and a small embellishment. I really wanted the focus to remain on her pictures of the quilts.

and here are some close ups of those diamonds...

You can really see the texture in this one:

I love the way the Colorbox Frost white looks on the dark brown and green. You can also see the dots and flower stamp on the yellow in this one.

You can just make out the large flower background stamp on the red in this one:

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! I have so big news to share on Monday if I can get my ducks in a row...if not I will at least have some cards! :)

Til then......
