Operation Safe & Sound Blog Hop

"We have a special post today. Our dear friend Christy's home was broken into and a lot of their things were either destroyed or taken. Some things held such sentimental value that nothing will replace it. What makes our community so remarkable is that we are there for each other even though we can't physically be near our friends. These "people" violated her home, the place where we are supposed to feel the most safe, where we raise our children and where we sleep in peace. I can not even imagine what she is going thru or the loss she has endured. Dealing with the police and insurance company has been and continues to be exhausting and frustrating for Christy and her family. She has been updating her facebook page with some details.

Some of Christy's friends have come together to help. We are of course making cards for her because that's what we do, right? But ultimately, the expense of trying to get her family back on their feet will be somewhat of a strain. Imagine having to replace household items, necessities in our world all while trying to rebuild a sense of security that we all most times take for granted.

So, we're asking for your help. We've tried to make it convenient for you to help Christy and her family. There's a PayPal button on each of our blogs. We are asking that if its your hearts desire, that you donate whatever you can to help Christy and her family regain a sense of safety and security. NOTHING is too small. Every little bit will make all the difference. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help cover the costs of food, lodging and replacing at least some of the items taken.

Thank you for even reading this post in its entirety.

If you're interested in seeing all of the cards, a full list of girls who are participating in the card drive is available at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog & A Blog Named Hero"

**On a personal note...I don't know Christy personally or professionally but her story tugged at my heart. I can't imagine what she and her family are going through. I just had to help in any way I could. I hope you can help too.**

The Great Mojo Comeback...

Good Monday Morning everyone!

Today my sweet friend Kellyand I have a challenge for all of you. Kelly and I have lost our mojo. We think they are off having a grand ole time partying without us. So we decided to host some challenges over in the Flickr Pool at A Blog Named Hero.

What? you didn't know that A Blog Named Hero had a flickr pool? Oh my! Click here and it will take you right to it! :)

You will find all the details to the challenge in the discussion section. Make sure you become a member of the ABNH group. Tell your friends too.

The challenges will run over the next 5 weeks! We will alternate between Sketches and Color combinations and then combine the two on the 5th week.

There are prizes to win if you enter too! We have stamps and inks to give away. You have to go over there to find out what this weeks prize is.

The challenge this week is a sketch. The sketch is based off of THIS card by Shari Carroll. A huge THANKS to Shari for letting us use it! :)

Here is my card:
Sketch week 1

I completely followed the sketch. I was the recipient of the most generous gifts last week. A sweet friend sent me the Spring Seasonal Distress inks and the Winter Seasonal distress inks! Generous right? I had another friend send me the Summer Distress inks. (I have amazing friends!) So this week I used the Spring set to make my card. I just love all the colors...and I am not a fan of purple. But...I really love this color :)

So go!!!! Play!!! Have fun!!! See you @ the ABNH flickr pool!

I'll be back later with a card that is based loosely off the sketch. It has so many possibilities! :)

Mojo has left the building...Card lifting Julie Ebersole

Houston we have a problem...My mojo has left the building! So what do you do when you have to make cards and have absolutely no inspiration in your soul to draw from? You scraplift or in this case "card lift".

I was scrolling through some of my favorite peoples Flickr Photostreams and I happened upon this card (CLICK HERE) by the undeniably talented Julie Ebersole. I absolutely fell in love with this CAS (clean and simple) card. So I decided to try my hand at it.

When I draw inspiration from someone I rarely copy it exactly...this wasn't the case for this card. I just needed to remember how good it felt to put ink to paper! Besides, the original is a masterpiece and it just wouldn't have been any good if I made any major changes to it! :)

Working on submissions this week. Be back soon!

HUGS!

Pucker up

Hey everyone! There is a new challenge up on A Blog Named Hero and it's all about KISSING!

Here is my card that is up today:
Michelle stamp kissing hello

I started the leaf and floral background. I inked it up really well with Hero's Soft Green Shadow ink. I then inked the friendship definition stamp with Hero's Splash Chalk ink and kissed them together (press the two inked stamps together). When I pulled them apart you could see the definition stamp on the floral and leaf background. It was mottled but I loved the look. I then stamped my card with it.

For the flower I used a 3D flower from the Silhouette store, a duplicated it a few times and made about 10 different layers and made them all a little bigger than the next. I cut them out of white and inked them with the Splash chalk ink and some distress broken china. When it was dry I inked up my definition stamp in the Colorbox white frost and stamped each flower with them.

When the flowers were all dry I layered them, added a fancy brad and attached it to the card. Lastly I stamped my sentiment.

Here is a close up of the flower:

Head over to A Blog Named Hero for the Challenge details. Remember, if you play you have a chance to win a $25 G.C from the FABULOUS Simon Says Stamp!

What are you waiting for???? Pucker up and kiss some stamps! :)

Hello cards Part duex

Good morning Chicas!!! Here are the last 6 from the Hello cards. Enjoy! Would love to know which colors are your favorite.

Now the background colors are the same on some as I tried to do 2 of each color with different flowers and sentiments. I did only one yellow and one orange because I couldn't decide which one I liked better and I had to have 12 total.

Just saying hello persimmon

Hello green

Hello friend orange blue tea flower

Hello friend teal blue
This one is not in the set...I made this for a friend while i was doing the others. I just love how that flower turned out!
Butter bar hello
Love the Basic Grey paper with this. I was the exact same colors. I think it's from the Urban Prairie line.

brown with blue roses
One of my favorite color combinations lately.
brown blue poppies full
Tried a little of the ClearSnap Smootch Glitz on this one :)

See you later! :)
