Multi purposed layout

This layout was made for multiple reasons.... #1 I recently joined a challenge with my Twitter/Hero Arts friends Sarah & Libby. It's a small challenge to get us to get some layouts done. It's really more of a motivator than a challenge. It worked FINALLY this week! I also had a huge help from Becky Flecks Page Maps! ;) Love this site and use her sketches all the time! So easy. I usually stray from the sketch but I stayed pretty true to it this time. The second I saw this sketch the entire layout popped into my head. I was actually looking for something for other pictures and tossed it aside to do this one. I love that her sketches can do that to me :D there is also a contest going on for this sketch on her blog and the prize pack is from Sisters Scrapbook...Becky's lss (reason #2)

and reason #3...I did this layout for Nichol's Making the Most of Die Cutting Machines class over at 2 peas! I loved this technique she did this month and will be doing a lot more. It's to make faux chipboard out of kraft cardstock...GENIUS! The girl is just pure genius! I loved the look of it on her layout and then was 100% thrilled with it on mine. I will be doing this one a whole lot more.

*** edited to add...I just realized you can't see the door in the scan. I should have inked it. there is really a door on the school. ;)

My PSE leaves that dang shadow on dark layouts. Drives me insane when I scan them and they look so good. Alas, it's easier than a photo so shadow we have! :)

Thanks for looking! :)

Inspired by Nichol Magouirk part 2

So a while back I uploaded some bookmarks that I had "lifted" from Nichol. I had one more to share but wanted to wait until my mom got the card to upload it. I loved THIS card the moment that I laid eyes on it.

Nichol's skill for one layer cards is amazing! I don't know how she does it so well. I remade this card FOUR times before I finally got it right....and then I dripped water on it... let's just not go there...we are ignoring the big drip spot in the corner ok?

I used chalk to ink the sky and ground. I cut some Hero Arts clouds with my Silhouette, lightly attached them and then chalked around them. I love to use chalks and when you have large areas it can be tedious but I love the softness that the chalk gives off. I couldn't get that softness with the cloud stamp and chalk ink...trust me...I tried!

I used my favorite bare tree by Impress Rubber Stamps and used some old tiny leave stamps (LL496) by Hero that I have. I used my Prismacolor pencils to color it all in. I don't have a zillion Copics and I really love the softness you can get with the pencils.

That's it in nutshell. Thank you so much to Nichol. Without you I would have so much less inspiration! You rock girl!
