Silhouette machine/Hero Arts Image

I used my Silhouette machine and a Hero Arts image (cutout_flower_c00010_23067). I cut it out of very thick cardstock. I carefully removed it from the backing so the pieces would stay intact in the cardstock and then I used Stampin' Up chalk, EK Success Chalk and Pebbles chalk to color it in. I highlighted it with a white pen.

I stamped the background paper with a script stamp and embossed it. Frame was created with the Silhouette. I combined different images to get what I was looking for.

Because this flower is many different pieces I placed pop dots on the back of it while still in the cardstock and then lined the card up over it to attach it. It worked like a charm! :)

More Dogwood goodness and Cosmo Cricket....

Where have I been? How on earth have I missed so much Cosmo Cricket this year? I found a ton of it on clearance at my lss last week and bought a ton of paper, stickers and rubons. I couldn't wait to use the Ever After line. So incredibly elegant. I will be using this paper a lot....the stamp too.

I colored the silver block behind the flowers with a silver leafing pen. I inked the edges of the flowers with it too. I stamped it in Soft Stone (memories for hero arts).

Card Patterns Challenge #57

I promised myself I would try new challenges this year and I am. I recently found the Card Patterns blog and while I have loved every sketch I have only managed to get 2 sketches done....this being the 2nd.

This week was also a bonus for me as it is sponsored by Hero Arts and well....we all know how much I LOVE HERO ARTS! I just bought the Dogwood stamp by Hero and couldn't wait to play with it. I have stamped it in many colors and colored it in many mediums. Jen McGuire had colored it in red a while back and I loved it so I attempted marker shading in red with it (I color/shade terrible in marker and I am trying to improve so that I can justify buying some Copics). I added glossy accents for shimmer. It's so pretty in real life.

More to come....but my laptop is not working properly right now.

lil bit of spring and a whole lotta talkin'

It's a beautiful spring day here in New England. I woke to birds chirping and really there is no better way to start the day....ok, yes, to the sound of the ocean but that's 2 blocks away and I am sure that my friends over there wouldn't be happy to find me there in the morning all spring/summer long....so we'll have to settle for the birds chirping! ;)

I made these 2 cuties for the Card for Kids drive that Jen McGuire (super card/scrap extraordinaire and a beautiful angel in human form)is doing. I have a stack that just need to be glued together in all kinds of themes. My goal is to finish that this weekend and get them in the mail. I have been a total slacker and these kids deserve more than that. So the fire is lit and I am creating for them this week.

On top of that I have decided that since I started making cards a year ago I have done very little in the way of scrapbooking. Scrapping has always been my first love and it's taken a backseat to cards. Well I have decided to dust off that 12x12 cardstock and put it to good use. I had cut back because my camera broke last June. It doesn't work quite the way it should since Ray (dh) and Brycen (ds) got caught in a huge rainstorm with it in DC. Funds being what they are in this pitiful car economy I haven't been able to go buy the camera of my dreams (Nikon D40) so....I have dusted of the busted camera and I am making a point to take a picture every day....well lots... because let's face it, it's just not that great on one shots these days ;) and with them I will scrap!

I have had a layout in my head for a while but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it.....then I saw THIS layout by the fantastic Nichol Magourik and well....it all just fell into place inside my head. Now the trick here is to get it to look like that on a piece or two of 12x12 paper....not an easy feat I tell you! But I am determined to "make it work" (that's Tim Gunn inside my head). So work I will.

Have you been stuck on the card scene and forgot about the scrap scene? If so, join me....we can have a friendly challenge! C'mon....it'll be fun! :)

I am having too much fun with these. This one is for our daughter who will turn 17 on Monday. She loves these colors and simplicity so that is what I went with. Inside we put a gift Visa card. She'll love it and if I know her.....she'll be sporting new sneakers very soon! lol

Working on joining card challenges this week. I also am in the midst of 3 scrapbook albums....2 mini and a 12x12 for a dear friend. so much to do....so little time. Be back soon!

Purse #2

No big post today. I'm exhausted. I just wanted to get this one uploaded. My camera is on the fritz again so the pictures aren't the greatest...I apologize. I have more purses coming soon. They are so fun to make.

Hoping to get back on track now that the Olympics are over. I promised myself that I would do stuff for me this year. My back limits my scrap/card making time. It's impossible to be at my desk most days so I am hoping to make the best of the time I do get to spend at it. It's the only goal that I set for myself this year. Sadly, we have lived here for 4.5 years and I only have about 6 pictures up in my entire house. I have so many plans and frames and ideas ready to go. This is the first time in...well forever that I have actually set a goal aside just for ME. I want my house decorated, I want it pretty and warm and inviting and that is my goal this year.

Tonight I am in the planning phase of my bathroom wall. Waiting ever so impatiently for my Silhouette SD vinyl to arrive. It's ridiculous that FedEx is taking this long. I placed the order LAST Friday. Hopefully, this week! ;)

Until tomorrow......
